Travel along one of Australia’s most scenic coastal drives as we travel north of Port Douglas, to Cooya Beach where Kubirri Warra brothers, Brandon and Linc of Kuku Yalanji Cultural Habitat Tours will teach you how to throw a spear. Walk with the brothers on their traditional lands where you can hunt whilst stalking and observing wildlife and scenic country.

Learn how to track coastal resources through the mangroves. Search and hunt for fish, mud crabs and mussels. See and try bush tucker and bush medicines.  Enjoy morning tea of fresh homemade damper, tea/coffee and the catch of the day on the balcony of their family home, overlooking the ocean. The Walker boys demonstrate different Aboriginal artifacts and their uses. Maybe you can try to play a didgeridoo.

Have lunch at Silky Oaks Lodge before we make our way to the spectacular Niau Falls and Tranquility on the Daintree - a secluded 450acre private property. The Niau falls are a pristine natural wonder waiting for you to discover. You will see strange, primitive plants and learn about the original French settler family. Hear of their incredible story of survival. Your guided rainforest walk will unlock the secrets of this fascinating eco-system. Time for a swim in this magical rainforest environment, (don’t forget your swimmers).

 

Learn about the Dreamtime, animals and stories of the Aboriginal people from the Mossman region. Enjoy and share in an authentic Aboriginal art experience with you tutor. Artist in residence, Binna - take home a memento of your choice.

Your amazing day of discovery comes to a close as you are returned to your accommodation.

$20 per adult (children exempt) is payable on board to the operator

The operator reserves the right to cancel any tour, change vehicle type or arrange an alternative carrier if the numbers in a group is not sufficient. The operator reserves the right to alter the route or itinerary of schedules to an alternative operator if necessary. No refund will be given in these circumstances or in the event of any delay, curtailment or alteration of a trip resulting from any cause including severe weather conditions or mechanical failure. The operator cannot guarantee pick up or drop off times and are not liable for passenger failure to connect with other services.
