You will be met by your guide in our air-conditioned four-wheel drive (4WD) vehicle. We travel north along the Captain Cook Highway, one of best coastal drives that Australia has to offer, towards the World Heritage listed Daintree National Park. We cross the Daintree River by cable ferry and journey through this spectacular example of Mother Nature, which contains the highest number of plant and animal species that are rare, or threatened by extinction.
Your experienced guide will enlighten your journey with incredible stories and local history as you continue on the 4WD only Bloomfield Track. This 32km track will take you through some of the most spectacular scenery in Australia, crossing rivers and climbing mountain ranges. We stop for lunch at the famous Lion’s Den Hotel (est. 1875), North Queensland’s oldest running bush pub and whilst you quench your thirst, take time to wander through the old artifacts room which is must. We then continue to the unique geological oddity, Black Mountain, surrounded in mystery and spoken of in ancient Aboriginal legend.
Our tour arrives in Cooktown and our first stop is Grassy Hill. Amazing panoramic views of the Coral Sea, Endeavour River and Cooktown. Have your camera ready! Enjoy free time to explore Cooktown. Our tour then returns via the inland road, named the Mulligan Highway, this area is a diverse landscape of cattle stations and the Palmer River Goldfield region where one of Australia's richest goldfields was discovered in 1872. The outback of Far North Queensland offers amazing scenery.

Itinerary as per tour above. Fly the scenic way back to Cairns. Experience a 35 minute flight with Skytrans Airlines as you fly along the coast between the World Heritage Rainforest (you’ve just experienced by 4WD) and the Great Barrier Reef.
1 Day Fly-Drive Cooktown
Fly from Cairns to Cooktown where you have the day to explore Cooktown. Part of Cooktowns relaxed charm is that most places of interest can be seen with a leisurely stroll around town and along the Endeavour River. The main street has charm and atmosphere which still prevails. You can experience the unspoilt beauty of the area which remains much the same as when Captain Cook first landed in 1770. Late afternoon depart Cooktown, travelling along the Mulligan Highway, through the Palmer River Goldfield area and the Outback of Far North Queensland to be returned to your accommodation.

The operator reserves the right to cancel any tour, change vehicle type or arrange an alternative carrier if the numbers in a group is not sufficient. The operator reserves the right to alter the route or itinerary of schedules to an alternative operator if necessary. No refund will be given in these circumstances or in the event of any delay, curtailment or alteration of a trip resulting from any cause including severe weather conditions or mechanical failure. The operator cannot guarantee pick up or drop off times and are not liable for passenger failure to connect with other services. Whilst we make every effort to safe guard our clients and their belongings, we cannot be held responsible for personal injury or loss due to events which are beyond our control. Travel insurance is NOT included.

Transfer to and from Cairns Domestic Airports on the Drive/Fly is not included. Own arrangements.
