GREEN ISLAND Lieutenant James Cook recorded his sighting of Green Island on June 10th, 1770 and according to tradition, named the island after Charles Green, the Chief Observer and Astronomer on his ship, the HMS Endeavour. It was on Green Island in the 1950’s that a marine engineer established the world’s first Underwater Observatory.

Situated on one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World this is one of natures rare gifts a small coral cay located 16 nautical miles from Cairns with 126 native plant species, colourful birdlife and surrounded by magnificent coral reef.
